Where do we start?
I've just been bullied by my daughter to start blogging I suppose it was inevitable because I have quite a few things to talk about. My first topic on my blog is single motherhood:
I became a single mother a few years ago and believe you me it is a challenge because you're trying to strike the balance between raising children, going back into the dating game and above all remaining sane. I can say I'm managing to raise my children but on the sanity part mmm... I find myself many a times screaming at parked cars, talking to my bank statement and other inanimate objects. Recently I had a long telephone "conversation" with myself simply because at times when I start ranting and raving I forget to listen to what the other person is saying, or if they are still even on the phone. I must have ranted and raved and accused this very polite gentleman of being a thief and stealing my sat- nav that he decided to put the phone down amidst my monologue. I decided to quote part of Obama's speech in between my rant and after Obama I quoted JFK and feeling quite please with myself (I swear that is how Rosa Parks felt) to cap the whole speech, I decided to say, "consider yourself told". At this point I realised there was no one at the other side of the phone. This is not an isolated incident as some members of my family can tell you- it happens quite frequently.
As for the dating don't even go there. Dating, rules and games have changed so much. To begin with if somebody asks you out you have to make sure you have distinguished if its just "linking" or proper dating and if you're splitting the dinner bill or just paying it yourself. I personally thing they should be a new dating rule book or Dating For Dummies because I can remember freaking my prospective dates/links by taking them to shop for rings on the second date or calling myself by their last name on the 3rd date. I thought when you're in your 30's dating becomes easier and simpler because we are all aware of what we want, boy was I wrong. I've dated "Mr-Booze-Till-You-Drop", "Mr I'll-Be-16-Till-I-Die" (when he is over 30?), "Mr I'm-Married-But-I'll-Divorce-My-Wife", so what am I trying to say here?
I've obviously learnt to laugh at my tragedies or at least crush my grapes into a very cheap wine and I'm the person to ask whether or not you're dating a looser because I have some experience in that department.
